Mom Hack of the Day
Remove Wood Scratches with Nuts! - To fix scratched wood, break open a fresh Walnut, Pecan, Brazil Nut or Almond. Rub the nut into the scratch going in the direction of the scratch, and it often disappears!
- A great old product Tibet Almond Stick works on the same principle, using almond oil, and it lasts forever!
- If just the finish of the wood is scratched, not the wood itself, then polish or lemon juice + olive oil works
Remove white table rings with Mayo!
First Attempt:
- Put real Mayonnaise on the ring and let sit for hours before wiping
Tougher marks require a textured rub:- Baking Soda with water or mayo, or
- White (non-gel) Toothpaste, or
- Mr. Clean Magic Eraser
(It removed Sharpie from our computer screen, it is a miracle worker!)
Nuclear Option:- If the wood is ruined, and you have nothing left to lose, place a folded smooth cloth (T-Shirt or tea towel) on the mark, and take either a Hair Dryer or a medium Hot Iron on steam setting over the towel for a few seconds at a time. Repeat until gone
