How to Store Kids' Art, School Work and Precious Keepsakes

Being the family 'archivist' is actually a lot of pressure. It is more than just photo albums and baby books.

How do we store kids' artwork, school papers, and precious keepsakes?
  • The Happiness Project (my favorite blog!) has an elegant solution, a File Box for each child, with one hanging folder for each year to contain kids' art, school work, team photos, birthday party invitations, report cards etc.  Here are some additions to this great idea:
  • Use Legal size folders (they will fit in most file boxes the other direction) as many projects are not 8 1/2 x 11
  • Photograph really big, 3 dimensional, or fragile items (that you will end up throwing out), print the photo and place in the file box
  • For extra large art work you really want to save, the Container Store has lovely 11x17 boxes
  • Also, scan your absolute favorites, and then you can easily put them in your photo book albums you make on Shutterfly, Kodak, iPhoto etc. It is really fun to see the artwork in the photo album next to photos of the child!
