Make Cheaper and Healthier "Paperbag" Popcorn in Your Microwave!

Microwave popcorn costs much more than plain popcorn kernels, and has some really unhealthy ingredients. Try making easy popcorn in a paperbag in your microwave!

Ingredients
  • 1/4 to 1/3 cup popcorn kernels
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt: either kosher, sea, or popcorn salt
  • Any flavoring desired (see below)
  • Paper lunch bag

Directions

  1. Mix the kernels with salt and olive oil in a bowl (or put it right in the bag and give it a good shake)
  2. After putting the mixture in a brown paper lunch bag, fold it a few times tightly (some like to staple it)
  3. Place the bag in the microwave and cook on high for 2-3 minutes. Stop and check when popping slows down to about 4 or 5 seconds between pops
  4. Don't leave it unattended, if burned it could catch on fire!
